Allen P. Kopelman is the co-founder and CEO of Nationwide Payment Systems and has over 20 years of experience in the payment processing industry. Before starting NPSBank in 2001, Allen had a career in the hospitality industry in Atlanta as a Chef, after graduating from Georgia State University Chef’s Apprentice and Hospitality Management Program in 1986 as the Apprentice of the Year.
In 1986 Allen moved to Dallas, Texas, and worked at several hotels and country clubs and was Executive Chef at The Melrose Hotel and was recognized as one of the top hotels in the Omni Chain. The
restaurants, Landmark Cafe and Library Bar, were named as one of the top places to eat in Dallas.
In 1992 Allen returned to south Florida, where he grew up in North Miami Beach after his family moved here from Brooklyn, New York. Allen’s family was involved in the manufacturing and retail clothing business
for many years in Miami and later in Atlanta. He had always wanted to be in business for himself.
In Florida, Allen worked as a Chef consultant. Then started a catering company, and “Food Amongst the Arts” restaurant, which was recognized by the Palm Beach Post as one of the top 10 restaurants in Palm Beach County. As a Chef, Allen was featured in many local and national magazines and newspapers. He was also recognized by the James Beard House in an article about top places to eat in Boca Raton, Florida.
In 2001 after working as an Independent merchant salesperson, Allen and Dave Burney decided to start Nationwide Payment Systems – that friendship and venture are now beginning its 20th year in business! Allen is always learning and educating himself and growing professionally. Soon Allen was asked to serve on a few industry advisory boards and write articles for the Green Sheet Advisory board as well as blogging for NPS. Since 2001 Allen has helped business owners and educate them on payment processing, payment security, fraud, and understanding interchange. Allen has received awards from various industry groups in the industry for innovation.
Since 2001 Nationwide Payment Systems has transformed from a company that sold terminals and basic software to a full-blown FinTech company offering a variety of software and services. We help any size business navigate the world of payments, from Startups to fortune 500 companies with a full range of offerings and access to multiple settlement banks and processors give NPS the flexibility to help just about any merchant.
Growing up around the business world, being involved in different types of businesses, and living in multiple cities gives Allen a good perspective on business from running a small business, working in the B2B world, and running a large hotel operation. Allen brings all of that to the table when working with clients.
Allen is also involved with a few local non-profits and as a company, we are involved in the local community and help local non-profits, NPS also developed NPSCharity to help charities raise money and provide non-profits with a 30-minute free strategy session to go over how to use the software and how to identify and how to market to donors.
Allen is always ready to tackle a new opportunity and use his expertise to help business owners.
